Rutgers Alumni Spottings around the World

As Nina and I travel around the country or the world,
we inevitably run into a Rutgers Alumni or Stuff Yer Face loyal customer.
We are usually wearing a shirt or a jacket with the SYF logo on it, and it gets spotted.
It’s a tremendous moment when it happens, and a great conversation follows, along with a beer or two!

Here is a collection of photos of those chance encounters, that I just began to post in February of 2014.
I wish I could find some more of my old files…

We met Paul Podkulsky at Green Room Brewing, Jacksonville Beach. We walked in and couldn’t miss his Rutgers shirt. Paul is a 1987 graduate and shared with us some memories from New Brunswick. He remembers walking into Stuff with a case of beer to drink with his boli. He’s right…we were BYOB until 1992 when we got our liquor license. Thanks for the good conversation Paul, and we’ll see you at Stuff some day when you can buy your first beer there!
Monica RU student
We met Monica at Newark airport. I spotted her logo shirt and she spotted SYF on mine. She was headed to Rome for international studies and Nina and I were headed for Hike Bike Hops for Beer. Monica told us a great story…her parents had their first date at Stuff Yer Face! I’ve said it before, “We were here before you were born!” Good luck Monica! Keep in touch. By the way, who paid the check?

Nina and I were at the Hop Growers of America Convention in San Diego when Thomas Pinto Nielsen approached our Hops Jewelry table. Thomas is a graduate of Rutgers and works with Sierra Nevada Brewing Company as a lead in selecting the high quality raw materials for brewing. We again crossed paths with him in the evening at Stone Brewing where he was investigating some hops.
We met Kristen Ewer at the Dogfish Head Pub in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Kristen is a brewer at Dogfish Head ….wow that’s cool!

We met Scott, class of 2000, at the Field of Beers food and beer festival in Jupiter, Florida in January of 2014

At a New Year's Eve concert in 2009 in Vienna, Austria we met Mr. Super Stuff Yer Face fan. However, I apologize for losing his business card during our travels. Anyone know his name?

We met Stu and Jill in 2005 at a Yard House in Florida while we discussed the 100 beers on tap. Stu was a SYF customer during the 80's... before we had our great beer list. Time to come back Stu!

We met Amar at the Blind Monk in West Palm Beach in 2013. He's an RU grad, a proud owner of House For Beer in Port Orange, Florida, and a couple of pharmacies in the area. He also knows his bolis.

Everyone in town told us to eat and drink at Sierra Grill during our visit to Northampton, Massachusettes. While there we met O'Brian Tomalin the owner. We soon learned his sister worked at Stuff Yer Face in the late 70's and he had been a regular customer. We laughed for hours.
